Increase In Information Linked to the End Times

TikTok App is open on phone

Ecclesiastes 1:18 says, “For with much wisdom is much sorrow; as knowledge increases, grief increases.”

We’re living in a world no other generation has ever experienced. Any question you have, anything you’re curious about, can be answered in seconds. You don’t even have to think. You just ask Siri, type into Google, or scroll TikTok, and suddenly you’re hit with millions of voices, opinions, videos, and “facts.” Social media has replaced real conversations. People spend more time talking to their phones than talking to their families.

Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha are the first generations in human history to live with constant information overload. And the effects are showing. Depression is rising. Anxiety is rising. Loneliness is rising. People feel more connected digitally but more disconnected emotionally and spiritually.

So the question becomes: What does God say about a world overflowing with information? And does this moment connect to the end times?

“Knowledge Will Increase” — Daniel’s Prophecy Hits Different Today

When you open the book of Daniel, you’re stepping into a vision God gave him about what the world would look like as the end draws near. In Daniel 12:4, the angel tells him, “But you, Daniel, keep these words secret and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will roam about, and knowledge will increase.”

That last line, knowledge will increase, feels like it was written for our generation.

Before this moment, Daniel is shown scenes of kingdoms rising and collapsing, nations fighting for dominance, rulers stealing wealth, and global chaos swirling around Israel. Some historians argue these prophecies were fulfilled through ancient empires like the Seleucid Dynasty or Alexander the Great. But the text also stretches forward, pointing toward the tribulation period described in Daniel 12:11-12, a time that has not yet unfolded.

The angel tells Daniel to seal the prophecy until the end, and then adds that people will roam. Today, with over 8 billion people on earth, humanity is moving, traveling, migrating, and crossing borders at a scale the ancient world could never imagine. And then comes the part that hits our timeline perfectly: knowledge will increase.

We’re living in the most information‑flooded era in human history. Scientific breakthroughs drop every year. Technology evolves faster than we can keep up. Global travel is normal. Higher education is accessible worldwide. And social media pours endless content into our minds every single day.

Daniel had no concept of the internet, smartphones, or AI — but God did.

And Daniel’s question, “How long until the end?” (Daniel 12:6), is the same question Christians pray as we watch the world shift. The angel doesn’t give Daniel a date. Instead, he tells him to trust God and assures him that after his life on earth, he will receive his inheritance (Daniel 12:13).

The Bible Warns Us About the Dark Side of Knowledge

Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, said something that hits even harder today. Ecclesiastes 1:18 says, “For with much wisdom is much sorrow; as knowledge increases, grief increases.”

That’s exactly what we’re seeing.

The more information people consume, the more depressed they become.

The more “connected” we are online, the more isolated we feel in real life.

The more we chase worldly knowledge, the emptier we become.

The Bible doesn’t give a long list of verses about end‑times knowledge, but it gives enough for us to understand the pattern. Worldly knowledge, the kind we scroll through all day, is empty. It’s temporary. It’s foolishness to God. And if we’re not careful, it pulls us away from Him.

The Knowledge God Actually Wants Us to Have

Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instructions.”

This isn’t talking about Google's knowledge.

This isn’t talking about TikTok knowledge.

This isn’t talking about conspiracy knowledge or celebrity gossip or political drama.

This is vertical knowledge, the kind that comes from knowing God, reading His Word, and applying it to your life.

This is the knowledge that gives peace, not anxiety.

This is the knowledge that gives purpose, not confusion.

This is the knowledge that gives life, not emptiness.

And 2 Peter 3:18 tells us exactly what to do:

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

In a world drowning in information, God is calling us to something deeper, something eternal.

Not more data.

Not more noise.

Not more scrolling.

But more of Him.

Additional Verses about Knowledge:

'For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” '

'See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. '

'But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. '
